Dormans 2006
In September 2006 1914-21 were invited back to France by the Poilu de la Marne to take part in their event at the French National Memorial to the Marne at Dormans. Along with other top groups from across Europe we staged a two day living history scenario in trenches specially dug for the event and took part in a wreath laying ceremony at the town's memorial to the fallen.
Life in the trenches at Dormans
As ever it was great fun working with the Poilus and with SRD and our German friends. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and look forward to visiting for a third year in 2007. Click here to see some more pictures from this event.
On our way to the event we visited the Russian Legion Cemetery (read about that here). On our way home we stopped in Reims to see the beautiful cathedral and managed to visit Delasaux Farm cemetery and the grave of Private E. Cooper of the Machine Gun Corps, Great Grandfather of our esteemed Officer Stephen Perry.
