in 1914 the regular Russian Army comprised 208 line infantry regiments plus Guards, Grenadiers, Rifles, Engineers and cavalry. This was backed up by the reserve forces, the Opelchenie. After full mobilisation it was estimated that the Army could bring a staggering five million men under arms - the Russian steamroller that was expected to crush all opposition. One of the regiments that served throughout the war and into the tragic civil war that followed was the 13th, The Bielozersky Regiment.
